Battling Grief

Join LIU BROOKLYN MSA for their event “Battling Grief” on Thursday, March 25th at 8pm on ways how to tackle grief and loss from a psychological and Islamic perspective!!✨

SPEAKERS:

Omar Shareef is an MD/MBA combined degree graduate from St. George’s University School of Medicine, and is currently a psychiatry resident physician at Nassau University Medical Center while concurrently pursuing a certification in Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at Columbia University. He is a certified Adult Mental Health First Aid instructor, and dedicates himself to advocating and promoting mental health wellness and literacy in underserved, BIPOC, and faith-based communities.

At an early age, Shahid Hoque completed the memorization of the Holy Qur’an at Darul Uloom New York. Thereafter, he enrolled in the Alim course program for 5 years, along with completing his high school. For the purpose of achieving a higher education in Islamic Theology, he travelled to South Africa in order to attend the Islamic University of Azaadville. After returning to New York, he furthermore specialized in the Tafseer of the Qur’aan under Mufti Ruhul Amin. Upon completing one year of this course, he began utilizing his knowledge by actively educating others, giving Jumuah Khutbas, lectures, and doing youth programs in numerous places.
