New York Muslim Leaders to Hold Press Conference in Response to Terror Attack on New Zealand Mosques

Muslim groups to call for action to challenge growing Islamophobia, white supremacy, and anti-immigrant bigotry

(New York, NY, 03/15/2019) – Muslim leaders across New York City will hold a news conference in front of the Islamic Cultural Center of New York (the 96th Street Masjid) to respond to the killings of more than 40 worshipers gunned down in terror attacks on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, during prayers on Friday.

At the news conference, there will be a call for action and unity to push back against growing Islamophobia, white supremacy and anti-immigrant bigotry in America and around the world.  Joining the press conference will be New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. 

The white supremacist author of a manifesto issued prior to the attacks called himself a supporter of President Donald Trump, who he sees “as a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose.”
