We believe that the best way to build leaders for the future is to familiarize them with the work that community leaders perform. Our internship program is designed to equip young people with the tools and skill-sets needed for them to grow into becoming effective leaders and to adequately represent their communities. With Majlis Ash-Shura, our interns acquire the unique opportunity to experience what life behind the scenes of the pulpit looks like for community leaders.

Why should I work for Majlis Ash-Shura of New York?

With Majlis Ash-Shura, you have an opportunity to work with an organization that represents over 90 mosques and organizations. As a result, we have various projects throughout the year that all provide their own unique experiences where interns can learn countless new skills and network with many professionals and community leaders along the way. Our Internship program runs throughout the entire year; fall, winter, spring and summer.  All students are encouraged to apply whether they are high school students, undergraduate, or graduate, regardless of major. Interns can apply to earn academic credit, community service hours, or simply to gain experience in grassroots efforts.

We offer internships in marketing, event planning, graphics design, and media.

Compensation: $1000 stipend minimum, letters of recommendation & college credit.

How do I receive academic credit and/or community service hours?

For the intern to receive academic credit and/or community service hours a communication must be established between Majlis Ash-Shura and the intern’s school. We expect the student to know their school’s requirements, communicate with the Executive Director to structure the internship, and to provide the necessary documentation that must be filled for the intern to receive academic credit from their institution.
