About Majlis Ash-Shura of New York

Founded in February 1989, Majlis Ash-Shura: Islamic Leadership Council of New York was established to provide a uniform voice on matters that concern the Muslim community. As an umbrella of over 90 mosques and organizations, Majlis Ash-Shura of New York serves as the official representative of its members with the media, organizations, advocacy groups, political candidates, and government institutions.

What We Do

Representation & Advocacy

Majlis Ash-Shura is an umbrella organization for over 90 organizations and mosques. Beyond officially representing the Muslim community, we strive to take up and promote just causes for Muslims and other communities.

Community Empowerment

Through facilitating, engaging, organizing with local mosques, community centers, and organization, Majlis Ash-Shura is focused on empowering the Muslim community in the Metropolitan New York Area.

Building Networks

Majlis Ash-Shura is dedicated to building networks and cooperating with faith organizations, civil rights organizations, and leadership who share a vision for a just New York that caters to the needs of the people.
