The American Identity for Black vs. Brown Muslims

February 24, 2021 — 7:00 pm
In honor of Black History Month, we have created a 2-part series to examine fraught relationships between the Non-Black and Black American Muslim community. Our first webinar (2/17) examined systemic racism and the failure of some Muslim communities to grasp it in its entirety with guest speakers from the Black Dawah Network.
Part 2 of this series will examine what the “American identity” means for black and non-black Muslims who have different historical connections for what it means to be “American.” Our special guest speakers for this series will be Sr. Ismahan Abdullahi, the National Executive Director of MAS-PACE, and Imam Khalil Abdurrashid, Harvard University Chaplain and Senior Fellow at Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research.
